5K Fun Run/Walk
Join us in Portland on February 25 for our Fourth Annual 5K Fun Run/Walk! This family friendly walk/run is a great way to embrace the chilly weather and boost your energy level, especially if you are more of a runner than a plunger.
The 5K Fun Run/Walk check-in will begin at 7:30 AM at 9721 NE Airport Way and will go until 8:30 AM. The 5K race will begin at 9:00 AM near the Portland Airport Economy Parking Red Lot. This is a point-to-point course on the paved path along the Columbia River starting from 9721 NE Airport Way, and running along Marine Drive trail, ending at the Portland Polar Plunge site at Broughton Beach.
If you are looking for a more extreme form of exhilaration, consider adding a little splash to your dash by doing the 5K Fun Run/Walk followed by the Polar Plunge! Runners who raise a minimum of $60 can participate in the 5K race and continue straight into the Columbia River to Plunge, either on your own or with your team! Those who register to Run and Plunge must raise a minimum of $60 and will receive a Nike long sleeve Polar Plunge T shirt in addition to Nike running socks!
**To participate in the Run & Plunge this year, each individual must raise a minimum of $60. Runners must raise a minimum of $25**
5K Fun Run/Walk FAQ
Where do I park? 9721 NE Airport Way. This lot is only for the 5k participants. There is no shuttle to take Plungers from this lot to the Plunge at Broughton Beach. Plunge parking is located on Marine Drive just east of the plunge site. You can also be dropped off at this start area.
How do I get back to my car? There will be a shuttle to bring you back to your car after the run that will run every 20 minutes starting at 9:30 AM. Or! You can walk back to make it a 10K!
Will there be support on the course? At Mile 2, there will be an aid station with medical support, water and portable toilets. Is the race chip timed? No, this is a fun run/walk!
Are dogs allowed? No
Are strollers allowed? Yes
Is there a kids race? Kids in strollers are free. Children running or walking are same fee as adults.
Is there a bag check? Your gear bag must be checked-in by 8:45 AM. Yes, and it will be transported to the end of the run for you to pick up your gear at the finish line. Thank you Matress World NW!
What do you get? All 5k participants will receive a pair of cool Nike socks and a finisher's medal, those participating in the 5k Run & Plunge or anyone raising $60+ will also receive the official 2017 Nike long sleeve Plunge T shirt.
Run and Plunge Details: If you sign up for the Run & Plunge you have two choices to enter the water. You can run the 5K and immediately proceed to the beach to plunge. Runners can take the plunge at 9:30, 9:40, or 9:50. If you plan to plunge with your team after finishing the 5K Run/Walk, you can join them in their designated plunge group time slot.
There is no cost increase for registering for the 5K Fun Run/Walk or the Polar Plunge the day of the event.
